Vom MTB auf die Straße – spektakulärer Wechsel von CENTURION VAUDE zu BORA hansgrohe
Ben Zwiehoff erhält Vertrag bei BORA hansgrohe in das World-Tour-Team und wird damit zum Teamkollegen des Ravensburger Radprofis Emanuel Buchmann.
Es ist bereits der 2. Fahrer, welcher vom Mountainbike Team CENTURION VAUDE den Sprung in ein Profi Straßenteam schafft. Im Jahr 2018 wechselte Hermann Pernsteiner bereits von der Meckenbeurer MTB Equipe hin zum Team Bahrain Merida (heute Bahrain/McLaren) und schaffte als Berg-Spezialist somit den Sprung in die höchste Liga des Radsports. Ben Zwiehoff wechselte erst im Frühjahr von seinem langjährigen Team Bergamont zu CENTURION VAUDE und hatte das Ziel mit der Unterstützung des Teams sich optimal auf die olympischen Spiele vorzubereiten.
„Als Ben im vergangenen Jahr zu uns kam, wussten wir bereits von den Kontakten und seinem Wunsch auf die Straße zu wechseln. Wir hatten vereinbart, dass wir Ben als Team CENTURION VAUDE auf seinem Weg zu den Olympischen Spielen zu unterstützen und, dass er gemeinsam mit Daniel Geismayr bei wichtigen MTB-Langstreckenrennen an den Start gehen wird. Die Entwicklung unserer Fahrer liegt und am Herzen und wenn ein Fahrer eine solche Chance bekommt, stehen wir nicht im Wege. Dies ist ein Teil unseres Verständnisses von nachhaltiger Entwicklung, auch wenn es schwer fällt einen solchen Fahrer wie Ben gehen zu lassen“, berichten Richard Dämpfle und Bernd Reutemann, die beiden Teamchefs.
Bis zum 01.11.2020 wird Ben Zwiehoff noch für das Team CENTURION VAUDE bei den bevorstehenden Deutschen Meisterschaften im Marathon und Cross-Country an den Start gehen und versuchen gemeinsam mit seinen Teamkollegen noch den einen oder anderen Sieg einzufahren.
„Mein bisheriges Karriereziel als Mountainbiker war immer die Teilnahme an den Olympischen Spielen. Doch ich habe irgendwann realisiert, dass ich mit meinem Klettertalent auf der Straße vielleicht mehr erreichen kann. Deswegen bin ich unheimlich dankbar für die Chance, die mir das Team BORA hansgrohe gibt. Ich bin hoch motiviert, im Gebirge als Helfer zu den Erfolgen des Teams beitragen zu können. Die Tour de France als größtes Radrennen der Welt war schon immer ein Traum von mir – mal sehen, ob ich es irgendwann auch schaffe, da einmal dabei zu sein“, so Ben Zwiehoff über seinen nächsten Karriereschritt als Radprofi.

The Story
OK, it’s the most famous glacier in the world. You can’t expect solitude here; every fifteen minutes a busload of tourists is released in the direction of the viewing platforms. And yet the sight of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia with its 4-km wide and 60 m high escarpment has something touching, something incomprehensible about it. It is a natural spectacle that takes your breath away and that instinctively describes the relationship between man and nature. Humility and tranquil joy of existence seizes every viewer.
The Photographer
Ralf Gantzhorn was born in 1964, holds a M.S. in Geology – and has even worked as a geologist (as an independent consultant in the contamination sector). He has been climbing since 1983 and working as a photographer since 1985. As a northern German, he is always torn between the far too distant mountains and the fresh sea air, but he’s found a compromise in Scandinavia, Scotland and Patagonia (where he has now spent over three years). He enjoys organizing trips in areas where unfamiliar vistas – which haven’t already been photographed 1000 times – lure from every corner. He often experiences his images as far too static, but then is pleased with the abundance of triangles in the structure and the fantastic light.

The picture was taken on the summit of Marmolada after an ascent of the Vinatzer/Messner on the south wall. We didn’t reach the summit until 10:00 p.m. so we bivouacke (planned) there. We woke up to this riot of color …
