Ski 4 Freedom – A slightly different ski course in the Karakorum

Pakistani youth, boys and girls, experience a ski course of a different kind with the two Austrian ski guides Stefan Ager and Andreas Gumpenberger – and not in Austria, but in Pakistan. At the invitation of Samina Baig, the first Pakistani and Muslim woman, who stood at all summits of the “Seven Summits”, and her brother Mirza, also climber and head of the organization “Pakistan Youth Outreach”, the two travel to the north of Pakistan. Sleeping is in tents, there is of course no lift and a heater for drying the socks is also in vain. The aim of the Pakistani sibling couple is to give the young people, especially the girls, the opportunity to do sports and to be able to celebrate success in sports in the distant future.

About the project STEPZERO.ONE In cooperation with the non-profit organization Pakistan Youth Outreach the mountaineer and VAUDE-athlete Stephan Keck encourages young men and women to undertake adventures and learn to excel in challenging situations. His goal is to promote unity, share diversity and pluralism and to encourage the youth to take initiatives, engage in outdoors and work in teams. STEPZERO.ONE and Pakistan Youth Outreach has been promoting ski through training camps and competitions for the last couple of years. They are now highly optimistic about the future of ski in Pakistan, given the surmounting interest of young men and women in the sport. The goal is to empower the youth in Pakistan, to educate them in skiing and to find talents who will participate in Olympia 2022. Stephan Keck and his team support the project with skiing gear, instruction and coaching of the young athletes. The continuation of the project depends largely on donation. Used ski gear and financial support will benefit the project in helping organize future ski courses in Pakistan.
