Pionierhaft und erfolgreich
Ein ereignis- und vor allem erfolgreiches Renn-Wochenende liegt hinter den Sportlern des Team CENTURION VAUDE. Zwischen Hochsauerland Kreis, Schwäbischer Alb und Tiroler Alpen waren sie unterwegs und konnten überall mit guten Resultaten auf sich aufmerksam machen. Besonderes Highlight dabei war Jochen Käß‘ Sieg beim ersten offiziellen UCI eMountainbike Weltcup Rennen.
Das elektrifizierte Radfahren hält nun auch Einzug in die Leistungs- und Rennsport Welt. Gab es bisweilen nur vereinzelte Hobby-Veranstaltungen im eMTB, zeigt sich hier seit diesem Jahr eine deutliche Professionalisierung und so nimmt sich auch der Weltradsportverband UCI der Thematik an. Im Rahmen des UCI Cross Country Weltcup Auftakts in Albstadt wurde zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte auch ein eMTB Weltcup Rennen in Albstadt ausgetragen. Jochen Käß, der bereits 2018 den damals noch inoffiziellen Weltmeister-Titel für sich behaupten konnte, ließ sich natürlich den Start hier nicht entgehen. Mit gewohnter Klasse drückte er dem Rennen seinen Stempel auf und fuhr einen ungefährdeten und in diesem Fall auch pionierhaften Sieg ein.
Ebenfalls in Albstadt am Start war Young Gun Vinzent Dorn. Er ging im U23 Rennen des Cross Country Weltcups an den Start. Von Startposition 78 aus hieß es für Vinzent zu Beginn des Rennens „all-in“ zu gehen, um möglichst viele Plätze gut zu machen. Dies gelang ihm auch erstklassig. Konstant arbeitete er sich um Runde um Runde nach vorne bis unter die top 20. Zum Ende des Rennens hin musste er etwas mit seinen Kräften haushalten und verlor nochmals ein paar Plätze Am Ende steht ein starker und rundum zufriedenstellender 28. Platz zu Buche.
Stefanie Dohrn setzt Erfolgs-Serie fort
Beim BIKE Festival Willingen vertrat Stefanie Dohrn die CENTURION VAUDE Farben. Sie ging auf der Langstrecke über 116 Kilometer und 3.220 Höhenmeter an den Start und krönte ihre bisherige Erfolgsserie mit einem Sieg. Nach rund 6 Stunden Rennzeit verwies sie ihre Konkurrenz Karen Brouwer aus den Niederlanden und Sara Michielsens aus Belgien auf die Plätze zwei und drei.
Imster Radmarathon
Einen „Ausflug“ zum Straßenradpsort hatte indes Philipp Handl am Wochenende unternommen. Er ging sozusagen bei seinem Heim-Radmarathon in Imst an den Start. Nach wie vor etwas mit seiner sportlichen Form hadernd belegte er nach 110 Kilometern und 2.300 Höhenmetern Rang 12 gesamt und Rang 4 in seiner Altersklasse.

The Story
OK, it’s the most famous glacier in the world. You can’t expect solitude here; every fifteen minutes a busload of tourists is released in the direction of the viewing platforms. And yet the sight of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia with its 4-km wide and 60 m high escarpment has something touching, something incomprehensible about it. It is a natural spectacle that takes your breath away and that instinctively describes the relationship between man and nature. Humility and tranquil joy of existence seizes every viewer.
The Photographer
Ralf Gantzhorn was born in 1964, holds a M.S. in Geology – and has even worked as a geologist (as an independent consultant in the contamination sector). He has been climbing since 1983 and working as a photographer since 1985. As a northern German, he is always torn between the far too distant mountains and the fresh sea air, but he’s found a compromise in Scandinavia, Scotland and Patagonia (where he has now spent over three years). He enjoys organizing trips in areas where unfamiliar vistas – which haven’t already been photographed 1000 times – lure from every corner. He often experiences his images as far too static, but then is pleased with the abundance of triangles in the structure and the fantastic light.

The Story
The picture was taken on the summit of Marmolada after an ascent of the Vinatzer/Messner on the south wall. We didn’t reach the summit until 10:00 p.m. so we bivouacke (planned) there. We woke up to this riot of color …
